“This book will help veterinarians and their health care teams better understand common dog behaviors and how to prevent or change unwanted ones,” said Dr. Karen Padgett, Chief Operating Officer of the Ceva Animal Health Companion Animal business. “Unwanted behavior is the number-one reason families relinquish their dogs. Putting into practice the tips found in Decoding Your Dog can ensure a happy home for pets and their families. This will keep dogs out of shelters and in homes where they are part of the family.”

In Decoding Your Dog, diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists (ACVB) analyze problem behaviors, decipher the latest studies, and correct common misconceptions and outmoded theories. The book includes:
• Effective, veterinary-approved positive training methods
• Expert advice on socialization, housetraining, diet, and exercise
• Remedies for behavior problems such as OCD and aggression

The ACVB is made up of some of the most qualified individuals to provide that information, and Decoding Your Dog is a reflection of their pooled resources, training, knowledge, and analyses. Edited by two leading experts in the field, Dr. Horwitz and Dr. John Ciribassi, both board certified veterinary behaviorists with the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists, and media personality Steve Dale, Decoding Your Dog provides step-by-step training methods, advice, and remedies for existing behavioral problems.

Decoding Your Dog answers big questions, “how can I talk to my dog?” and “are smaller dogs more difficult to housetrain?” along with more finite questions, “how long can you crate a puppy?” and “how do I prepare my child for a dog?” Readers learn how to recognize signs of aggression, how to keep dogs out of trouble inside the home, and how to successfully reward for good behavior.
